About Us

Dr. Khatri Mahavidyalaya Tukum, Chandrapur, formerly Arts, Commerce and Science College, Tukum, Chandrapur, begins from the session 1991-92, with the discipline of Arts, Commerce and Science. This is a college of co-education affiliated to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli and recognized by Government of Maharashtra. The College is included under section 2(f) of UGC and NAAC 2nd Cycle accredited. We are the first to introduce post-graduation programmes in Mathematics and Computer Science from the session 1996-97 in Chandrapur-Gadchiroli region. The College Administration, the Principal, teaching & non-teaching Staff have dedicated themselves to build an environment of holistic and inclusive learning, inspiring the youth to create a fruitful and responsible future.

In view of educational need of local area, the college introduced Junior college in Arts, Commerce and Science stream from the session 1999-2000. The post-graduation courses M.A. in Sociology, Political Science, History and Marathi were added from the session 2001-02, whereas B.Sc. (IT), M.Sc. (Environmental Science), M.Com. DBM and M.A. (Home Economics) in 2005-06. The college has introduced PG courses in Chemistry, Physics and Zoology from the session 2019-2020. The Institute of Higher Learning and Research in Specialized Studies for Ph. D. Courses started from the session 2021-20222 in subjects Economics, Marathi, Commerce, Environmental Science and Mathematics and from session 2023-24 in Chemistry and Zoology.

The college has already established its identity and fame for its academic excellence, regularity and punctuality in conducting classes, discipline and administrative control. The college is now developed as a education hub with academic flexibility, providing education in 21 UG, PG and Ph. D. programmes. The degree college has well qualified teaching staff of 30, out of which 12 are M. Phil, 19 are Ph. D. and 12 are Ph. D. Supervisors. Many of our faculty members work on various academic bodies of the University as well as participate in social and cultural activities.

The College provides various forums, platforms and facilities for the all-round development and growth of the students such as NSS, Women”s Empowerment and Placement Cell to motivate students towards Career Development and self-employment. The strong links are maintained by the members of the Alumni Association and their active participation in the activities of the College. They provide linkages with industries, job placements for students and information and training regarding opportunities in various sectors. With its uncompromising standards of excellence, the College is not only committed to imbibe the highest professional skills to prepare the students for a competitive 21st century, but also to make them sensitive to the demands of social justice, pluralism and equality.

The college is progressing by lips and bounds under the able guidance of Dr. N.H. Khatri, Former Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Nagpur University Nagpur and President, Dnyandeep Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Chandrapur. The management is highly supportive for the overall development of the students and faculty.
